If we take your question very literally, egg-laying reptiles like crocodiles and tortoise have been on our planet since a long time before a hen was actually synthesized. This gives you an answer that the egg came before a hen.

But if you ask the same question as "chicken first or chicken egg first?", then the chicken has to come first since the protein (OV-17) required to create an egg can only be found in chickens.
