Hlo mate here is ur ans.....

His first law states that every object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled to change its state by the action of an external force. This is normally taken as the definition of inertia. ... And if an additional external force is applied, the velocity will change because of the force....

Two examples for better understanding....

This is normally taken as the definition of inertia. ... And if an additional external force is applied, the velocity will change because of the force.

first law – example

An example of Newton's First Law in football is throwing the ball. When the QB puts forward force on the ball and then lets go, the ball wants to keep moving forward. The more force he puts on the ball the more inertia it will have. And the more mass the football has the more force has to be put on it.
