hey mate here is your answer..
The first law of thermodynamics states that the energy can neither be created not be destroyed...
When some heat energy is supplied to the system then some energy is conserved as the internal energy,U and some work is done upon the system..
.
So,
dQ= dU+dW
where dQ is the heat energy provided..
dU is the change in internal energy..
dW is the total work done.
