After India became independent in 1947, the first Indian general election took place from 25th October 1951 to 27th March 1952.
The first votes among all the other places in India were cast in Chini which is in the district called Tehsil.
It is in Himachal Pradesh. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru became the first Prime Minister after the elections ended.
