Lakshmi N. Menon  was the first Malayalee woman who became the member of Raj Sabha.

Lakshmi N. Menon was born in Thirvanampuram, Kerala. She was a freedom fighter and a diplomat. She was the first malayalee woman who was nominated as member of Raj Sabha. She became the member of Raj Sabha in 1952 and remained its member till 1966.

She has recieved the Padma Shree and Padma Bhushan awards as well.
