First model of an atom was given by JJ Thomson which was similar to Christmas pudding or a watermelon. The positive charge is spread all over while the electrons are like dry fruits or seeds studded in the positive charge of the sphere.

According to Thomson :-

An atom consist of a positively charged sphere and the electrons are embedded in it.

Atoms is electrically neutral as the negative and positive charge are equal in magnitude.

This model did not explain the result of experiment carried by other scientist.
