India has been invaded numerous times by different countries and different ethnic people. Islam was born around 5th century and it started spreading all around globe. After capturing Persia, it was time to face invasions from Muslim. Though twice expeditions were sent yet it did not result in anything.

The third attempt was by a general of Caliph, Muhammad Bin Qasim. Though they had eyes on India for long because of the wealth and resources of the country as well as to expand Islam here yet the immediate cause was not just that.

In 711 A.D., Ceylonese king sent a ship full of precious gifts to Caliph and Hajaj, the governor of Iraq. These ships were captured by pirates near the coast of Debal. King Dahir of Sind was asked for compensation for this but he refused, claiming that he had no control over the pirates. This was enough reason to attack Sind and two expedition were sent against Sind under Ubaidullah and Budail respectively. Both of these failed and atlast Muhammad Bin Qasim was sent who became first Muslim to invade and conquer Indian territory. He was able to win Multan and Sind during this invasion.

He later died during this invasion either because of court intrigues or because of a plan of Dahir’s two daughters (mentioned in Chachanama).
