The given AP is
14, 11, 8.....
so
a = 14 , d = a2 - a1 = 11 - 14 = 3
now let the nth term of an ap is 0
so
an = a + (n-1)d
0 = 14 + (n-1)(-3)
-14 = -(n-1)3
14 = 3n - 3
17 = 3n
n = 17/3
n = 6.3
so 6.3rd term is zero but number of terms cannot be in fraction
so n will either 6 or 7
if n will 6 the the number will greater then 0 and if the n will 7 then the number will be less then 0
so 7th term is the first negative term of the given ap

:-)

varun988: at the last line u had typed gp
varun988: but thanks
alex57: oh srry i will correct this
alex57: now ok?

First term = 14
Common difference = - 3

Therfore a.p =a+(n-1)*d;

Let n be 6
Hence,
14+(6-1)* -3;
14+5*(-3);
14+(-15);
14-15;
-1. Ans..
