Chordates are animals with backbones. Animal groups in the chordate phylum include fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. Animals with backbones are the most highly evolved groups of animals. First chordates were class pisces. That is fishes, than life moved on to land, with amphibians coming into existing, i.e.,frogs.. Then, reptiles evolved. Eg- snakes. Then, birds evolved and then mammals.
Hope it helps.
Thanks!
