Answer:

India's first war of independence was The Revolt of 1857. It was fought in most parts of India but not in the whole of India. Many causes were there that caused the war. Like, economic, political, social, religion, immediate, and soldier cause.

The economic causes comprised of high land revenue, Indian crafts were declined, smelting, heavy duty, etc.

The political causes comprised of the dirty policies made by the Britishers, rulership was banned, pensions of the rulers in favour of Britishers were canceled, many lost their territories also, etc.

Religion causes comprised of the army was divided into two, Indian and Britisher, the Indian army had both Hindu and Muslim, many Indian people were forced to convert their caste to Christianity, etc.

The social causes comprised of that the social evils like practicing Sati and Johar were banned, the purdah system was removed, widows were given an allowance to re-marriage, child marriage was prohibited, etc. And because of these restrictions on social practices, orthodox people were not satisfied.

The Immediate cause was that the bullets of the guns were made from the extract of cow and pig. That's why Indian army including Hindus (have faith in cows) and Muslims (have faith in pigs), denied to use that bullets becuse they had to take them in their mouth before loading the guns with it. hat's why Mangal Pandey and his troops started the revolt.

This revolt resulted in failure because of the major reason unity.  There was no unity among the revolters. This revolt held for two years and then the Britishers took control over the situations by resolving it.

I have not copied the answer from any website. I have copied it from my notes of this chapter because the previous year, I was in 8th standard and at that time I wrote the notes while studying.

Hope it helps.
