Water in reservoir in fixed and so less mixing of oxygen more pollution, high concentration of bacteria because break in the natural flow of river.

Local fishes and species can't live in artificial conditions rather in regions where water level has disturbances. No vegetation below and by the reservoir system and less food.

High sediment loaded areas.

Rivers natural flow maintains the all cycle and purity of water leads to more fish in river in compare to reservoir.

In water reservoirs there are very few amount of fishes and qualities of fishes are found then in rivers. The reason for my answer is that visa was a fixed water bodies and the water is still there. The water content a large amount of bacteria and the fishes are unable to grow in the artificial water condition. As a result very few fishes audible to survive in the water bodies which are made by the man such as aquifers.

On the other hand river is open water body and the water is not Still. The water is always flowing and it's a natural water bodies and the features available to thrive in that water condition so a large amount of fishes able to find in the river.
