twice the number = 2n.

According to the question :

5 + 1 / 3 n = 2n

5 + n / 3 = 2n

n + 15 / 3 = 2n

n + 15 = 2n × 3

n + 15 = 6n

15 = 6n - n

15 = 5n

n = 15 / 5
