10 / 84

A permutation is the process of putting things or numbers in a certain order. Combinations are a method of picking things or numbers from a set of objects or a collection without regard for their order.

The box contains 5 white balls and 4 black balls. That is a total of 9 balls.

Thus, the whole set will be selecting 3 balls from 9 balls which is 9C3

Now, there are 5 white balls and we are replacing after drawing each. Thus that still leaves 5 white balls during each draw. That is 5C3.

Thus, the probability of getting 3 white balls = 5C3 / 9C3

= 5!/3!(5-3)!  /  9!/3!(9-3)!

= 10/84
