It i the oldest landmass and divided into central Highlands and deccan plateau.

The central Highlands :

1) Made up of hard igneous and metamorphic rock.

2) Old aravallis borders northwest.

3) Malwa plateau in west and chota nagpur plateau in the east.

4) Bundelkhand in Southern UP and baghelkhand in the Northern madhya pradesh.

5) Drained by tributaries of Yamuna and Ganga.

The deccan plateau :

1) Extends from river narmada to southern tip.

2) Oldest block made up of igneous and metamorphic rock.

3) Satpura range,mahadevi hills,Maikal range covers Northern range.


4) Eastern edge marked by eastern ghats.

5) Western edge marked by western ghats.
