The allies defeated Germany by fielding more men, tanks, guns, ships, aircraft and supplies than the Germans. They did also beat the Germans at their own game: Mechanized warfare.

The Battle of Stalingrad had many consequences for the German military. At Stalingrad the German Sixth Army surrendered and with it 90,000 men were sent to prison and labor camps. The Germans would also never get a chance to launch an offensive in Russia as from his point forward it was running back.
