Given : Five customers buy 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 toffees respectively from one shop. But the person who bought 20 toffees forgot to pay . the shopkeeper makes 20% profit,

To find : what will be his profit or loss from these flive customers if the person who forgot to pay had paid his amount

Solution:

Let say Cost Price of a Toffee = C

Total Toofees Sold =  10 + 15 + 20 + 25 + 20  = 100

Cost Price = 100C

Let say Selling Price = S

Amount Received = 80S

Profit = 20 %

=> 100C + (20/100)100C  = 80S

=>  120C = 80S

=> S =  1.5C

if the person who forgot to pay had paid his amount

Then Total Selling Price = 100S   = 100*1.5C = 150C

Profit = 50C

Profit %  = 50 %

if Question is That Shopkeeper generally makes 20 % profit  then what is profit / loss when a customer forgot to pay

S = C + (20/100)C = 1.2S

Then Cost Price = 100C

Sales Price  = 80 * 1.2C = 96C

Loss = 4C

Loss % = 4 %
