The action of ingesting, or consuming something orally, whether it be food, drink, medicine, or other substance. It is usually referred to as the first step of digestion.whereas digestion is The process, in the gastrointestinal tract, by which food is converted into substances that can be utilized by the body.

Ingestion is the process of taking in food or water through the mouth while Digestion is the process of turning food that has been eaten into substances in order to be used by the body. ......................................(2). Ingestion takes place in the mouth whereas Digestion starts from the point where ingestion takes place all the way to excretion....................... (3). Ingestion always takes place before digestion which means Digestion occurs after ingestion..................... (4). Ingestion can only occur through the mouth whereas digestion occurs in the alimentary canal..................
