Given : Five distinct numbers are randomly given to persons 1 to 5. Persons 1 and 2 compare their numbers and the winner is the one having the smaller number. The winner compares with person 3 and so on.
To Find : What is the probability that person 1 wins 2 times
Solution:
probability that person 1 wins 2 times out of 4 comparisons
= (1/2)²
= 1/4
probability that person 1 wins 2 times the complete round
Each person has probability to win = 1/5
winning 2 time probability = (1/5)² = 1/25
