Given :- Five friends ABCD and E are sitting in a straight line on chairs and facing opposite directions alternately. Consider the given conditions and determine the direction in which C is facing and the position at which he is sitting if counted from the right side ?

Conditions:

1. E sits in the middle seat. First person from left faces the North

2. A and D never sit adjacent to each other.

3. C sits on the right side of E.

Solution :-

from condition (1) we get,

  • _ _ E _ _ => E is in Middle .
  • ↑ ↓ ↑ ↓ ↑ (First person from left faces North.)

Now, from condition (2) and (3) we get,

  • A _ E C D or, _ A E C D

therefore, from all three conditions we get,

  • A B E C D(↑ ↓ ↑ ↓ ↑) or,
  • B A E C D(↑ ↓ ↑ ↓ ↑) .

Hence,

  • C is facing South direction and he is second from the right side.
