Step-by-step explanation:

Selling Price(SP) of 1 kg mixture= Rs. 9.24

Profit = 10%

Cost Price(CP) of 1 kg mixture

By rule of alligation,

CP of 1 kg sugar of 1st kind CP of 1 kg sugar of 2nd kind

Rs. 9 Rs. 7

Mean Price

Rs.8.4

8.4 - 7 = 1.4 9 - 8.4 = 0.6

i.e., to get a cost price of 8.4, the sugars of kind1 and kind2 should be mixed in the ratio 1.4 : 0.6 = 14 : 6 = 7 : 3

Suppose

x

kg of kind1 sugar is mixed with 27 kg of kind2 sugar.

then

x

: 27 = 7 : 3

The selling price of the mixture is Rs.15.6 per kg.

Given :

Five kilograms of sugar costing Rs. 15 per kg is mixed with ten kilograms of sugar costing Rs. 12 per kg

Profit percent = 20%

To find :

The selling price of the mixture (in Rs/kg)

Solution :

Cost of 5 kg of sugar which are for Rs. 15 per kg = 5 × 15 /-

= 75 /-

Cost of 10 kg of sugar which are for Rs. 12 per kg = 10 × 12 /-

= 120/-

Total cost of 15kg sugar (mixture) = 75 + 120

= Rs. 195 /-

S.P of 15kg of sugar = C.P + Profit

= 195 + 20/100 × 195

= 195 + 39

= 234

S.P of 15 kg sugar = Rs.234

Hence, S.P of 1 kg of sugar = 234/15 = Rs.15.6

Therefore, the selling price of the mixture is Rs.15.6 per kg.
