(ii) The soils are very rich in humus, but are deficient in potash, phosphorus and lime. (iii) The soils are especially suitable for plantation of tea, coffee, spices and tropical fruits

Arid soil has low level of organic carbon, as biological activity is limited. b) Soluble salts accumulate in arid soil as leaching is minimum, due to lack of water. c) High level of calcium carbonate, gypsum, silica etc. d) They have sandy to gravelly texture.
