Five reason why air is mixture and not compound
Answers
Hello fellow student,
here is your answer
Air is considered as a mixture because it exhibits following properties:
1)Each component present in air retains its properties. The properties of the constituents of air (oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide etc.) are not changed. For example, pure oxygen is a supporter of combustion. Oxygen present in air also supports combustion.
2) none of these are bonded or fused together like water which has the elements hydrogen and oxygen bonded together
3)Each component can be separated by simple physical processes.
4)The components do not have any fixed proportion. All gases are present in different amount. Example, in greener area—more oxygen and water vapour is present; near industrial area—air consists of lot of impurities and smoke suspended in it.
5)The composition of air is not uniform and may be influenced by environmental factors, such as industrial pollution, heavy forestation or volcanic activity.
Hope it helps.
