AB and AD connected in series then
RS = 2+4 = 6ohm

CB and CD connected in series then
RS = 6+3 = 9ohm

then , 6ohm , 9ohm and 7ohm resistors are connected in parallel
Rp = R1×R2×R3/R1+R2+R3
Rp = 6×9×7/6+9+7
Rp = 378/22
Rp = 17.18 ohm

so equivalent resistance is 17.18 ohm

shivam924: sorry the correct answer is 3.33ohm

ANSWER
__________________________________________

R1 = 2 ohm
R2  =3 ohm
R3 = 4 ohm
R4 = 6 ohm

This is a Wheatstone Bridge coz
R1/R2 = R3/R4

So, The diagonally connected wire can be neglected

Hence R1 and R2 are in series
Req = 2 + 3 = 5 ohm

Similarily, R3 and R4 are in series
Req = 4 + 6 = 10 ohm

THESE TWO Req ARE IN PARALLEL COMBINATION

1/Req = 1/10 + 1/5
1/Req = 3/10

Req = 10/3

Req = 3.33 ohm

9552688731: Hi you didn't calculate 7ohm resistor
BRAINLYY: When there's a Wheatstone Bridge we can neglect the middle Resistance
shivam924: but the book answer is 3.33ohm
BRAINLYY: Wheatstone Bridge is formed if ratio of two pairs of resistances each on opp. side of the middle wire is equal
BRAINLYY: That's what it's coming
