Question

Five square flower beds each of sides 1m are dug one piece of land 6m long and 5 m wide. What is the area of the remaining land?

Answer

5 square flower beds sides = 1m

one piece of land = long(L) = 6m

= wide(W) = 5m

1st, area of rectangular = L × W

= 6m × 5m

= 30m²

than, area of square flower beds

side of flower beds = 1m

area of flower beds = 1×1

= 1m²

now, remaining area of land

=area of rectangular land - 5 × area of square flower beds

=30 - 5 × 1

= 25×1

=25m²

therefore, 25m² is the area of the remaining land.
