Five times the age of Sita is 10 yrs more than four times the age of Gita. Find their ages if their sum of the ages is 11 years

Let present age of Sita be x and Gita be y.
x+y=11 ---------1.
5x=10+4y ------2.
5x-4y = 10
Multiply first equation by 5 and subtract from equation2
9y = 45
y = 5
so x = 11-5 = 6 years
So present age of Sita is 6 year and Gita be 5 year

- Five times the age of Sita is 10 years more than four times the age of Gita.
- The sum of their age is 11 years.
To Find:-
- Present ages of Gita and Sita.
Assumption:-
- Let the age of Sita be x
- And age of Gita be y
Solution:-
As it is given that sum of ages of Sita and Gita is 11 years.
Hence,
x + y = 11
=> x = 11 - y ----------------> (i)
Now,
Also its given that five times the age of Sita is 10 more than 4 times the age of Gita.
Hence,
5x = 4y + 10 ---------------> (ii)
Substituting the value of x from equation (i) into equation (ii)
= 5x = 4y + 10
=> 5(11 - y) = 4y + 10
=> 55 - 5y = 4y + 10
=> -4y - 5y = -55 + 10
=> -9y = -45
=> y = -45/-9
=> y = 5
Putting the value of y in equation (i)
= x = 11 - y
=> x = 11 - 5
=> x = 6

- Age of Sita = x = 6 years
- Age of Gita = y = 5 years

Let us see whether five times the age of Sita is 10 years more than 4 times the age of Gita or not.
5 times the age of Sita = 5 × 6 = 30 years
4 times the age of Gita = 4 × 5 = 20 years
Difference between the age of Gita and Sita:-
= 30 - 20 = 10 years.
Hence, yes five times the age of Sita is 10 more than the age of Gita.
