age of monu = x-5 yrs

age of rahul = y-5 yrs

given, rahul was thrice as old as monu

y-5 = 3(x-5)

y-5 =3x -15

again

10 yrs later

age of monu = x +10 yrs

age of rahul = y +10 yrs

rahul will be twice as old as monu

y+10 = 2(x+ 10)

y+10 = 2x +20

2x -y = -10 ----------(ii)

from eqn 1 and 2

we get

3x -y = 10

2x - y = -10
