Let the father's age be 7x.

So,

Present ages of the son and his father are x+5 and 7x+5  respectively

5 years later,

Age of the son = x + 10

Age of the father =  7 x + 10

$7x+10 = 3x+30\\7x-3x = 30-10\\4x = 20\\x = 20/4\\x = 5$

Present age of son = x + 5
