Let the current age of the mother be x and the current age of the daughter be y.

ATP: age of mother five years ago was (x-5) and her daughter's (y-5)

Given that,

(x-5)=7(y-5)

=x-5=7y-35

=x-7y=-30…(1)

Five years hence:

x+5=3(y+5)

=x+5=3y+15

=x-3y=10…(2)

Subtracting eq (1) & (2)

x-7y=-30

x-3y=10

________

-4y=-20

y=5

Substitute y in (2)

x-3y=10

x-15=10

x=25

Therefore age of mother is 25 and age of daughter is 5.
