let the present age of father be x and son be y, then

1st condition,

(x-5) =7(y-5)

or, x-5=7y-35

or, x-7y=-30_____let equ. 1

2nd condition,

(x+5)=3(y+5)

or,x,+5=3y+15

or, x-3y=10

or x=10+3y

now, putting the value of x in eqn. 1,we get

10+3y-7y=-30

or,-4y=-20

or, y=5

again,

x=10+3*5

= 10+15

=25

hence, present age of father is 25yr and son is 5yr.
