Five years ago, John was twice as old as his brother Jim. Three years from now, the sum of their ages will be 31. How old is Jim now? ​

Let Jim be x years now

5 years ago will x - 5 years

then john was 2(x-5) years

3 yrs from now jim will be x+3

& john will be 2(x-5)+8

as per question x+3+2(x-5)+8=31

or x=31-1=30 ans
