Answer:

let age of Arjun be ′x′ and age of Shriya be ′y′

then according to question x=2y−−−(1)

and five years ago

x−5=3(y−5)

x−5=3y−15

x−3y+10=0−−−(2)

using eq(1)

2y−3y+10=0

y=10

and x=20

∴ age of Arjun is 20 and age of Shriya is 10

Answer :

The age of Sunil and Sanjay is 50 & 20 years respectively.

Explanation :

Five years ago,

Sunil was thrice the age of Sanjay

10 years later Sunil shall be twice the age of Sanjay.

Find the present age of both.

If we assume the age of Sanjay five years ago was - x years.

Then, Sunil's age would be - 3x years.

Present age of -

  • Sanjay - (x + 5) years.
  • Sunil - (3x + 5) years.

10 years hence, their age shall be -

  • Sanjay = (x + 5 + 10) = (x + 15) years.
  • Sunil = (3x + 5 + 10) = (3x + 15) years.

According to the question,

→ (3x + 15) = 2(x + 15)

→ 3x + 15 = 2x + 30

→ 3x - 2x = 30 - 15

→ x = 15

Therefore, the present age of -

  • Sanjay = (x + 5) = 20 years.
  • Sunil = (3x + 5) = 50 years.
