Five years ago, the average of simi' age that time and tia's age that time was 17 years. Five years from now. The respective ratio between simi's age and tia's age that time will be 8 : 5, what is simi's present age?

Assume Simi's age as x and Tia's age as y.

Now according to given data, form the equations.

(x-5+y-5)/2 = 17

x+y-10 = 34

x+y = 44 ...(1)

(x+4)/(y+4) = 8/5

5x+25=8y+40

5x-8y = 15 ...(2)

Solving (1) & (2),

y = 15.77 years

x = 44-15.77

X = 28.23 years.

Simi's present age must be 28.23 years.
