Answer:

let,the present age of men be xyears

or,the present age of their son be y years

A/Q

case 1:x+7=3(y+7)

x+7=3y+21

x-3y=21-7

x-3y=14_______(1)

case 2:x-5=7(y-5)

x-5=7y-35

x-7y=-35+5

x-7y=-30_______(2)

Now,by elimination method

eliminate(1)by (2)

we get,

x-7y=-30

x-3y=14

- + -

________

-4y=-44

therefore y=11

now, put y=11 in(1)

we get,

x-3y=14

x-3(11)=14

x-33 =14

x=14+33

×=47

hence,the present age of men is 47years *

and the present age of their son is11years*

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:   Let the required number be x

              After 5 years,

                         Man's age= 3x

                          Son's age= x

Before 5 years

 Man's age =7x

  Son's age= x

According to question,

7x+10/x+10=3x/x

7x+10/x+10=3              (by cross multiplication)

7x+10=3x+30

7x-3x=30-10

4x=20

x=20/4

x=5

Present ages of,

Man=7x+5= 40 years

Son=x+5= 10 years
