then( 3x-10) :( x-10) = 7:1

-10 because 3x is their age 5 years from now and 7:1 is the ratio 5 years before now

so you solve for x

3x-10 = 7x-70

-10 +70 = 7x -3x

60 = 4x

x = 60÷4

x=25

their ages 5 years from now are 3x = 3×25=75. & . x = 25

their ages now are 75 -5=70. & . 25-5=20
