Jacob age in past = 7x

present age of son = x + 5

Present age of Jacob = 7x + 5

age of son in future = x + 10

age of Jacob in future = 3(x + 10)  or 7x + 5 + 5

3x + 30 = 7x  + 10

4x = 20

x = 5

Present age of son = 10 years

Present age of Jacob = 35 + 5 = 40 years
