Flash and thunder are produced simultaneously. But thunder is heard a fewseconds after the flash is seen, why? How does the speed of sound in air vary withrise in density of the medium?

simply because the speed of light is huge in comparison with the speed of sound thus whenever there is lightning you will see it 1st and then hear it

Speed of sound is much less than the speed of light, so light reaches the eyes of observation in very less time while sound takes a few seconds to reach our ears.
