In case of demand curve we represent quantity on the X-axis while price is represented on Y-axis.
So if a demand curve is parallel to X-axis, it shows perfectly elastic demand, because there is no change in price .
While if a demand curve is parallel to Y-axis, it shows perfectly inelastic demand , as there is no change in demand.
hence when the demand curve is flatter it shows more change in demand than change in price and it is more elastic as compared to the steeper demand curve which is less elastic.
