There are two rules of Fleming's........I will try to give a trick by which you will be able to differentiate between these two...

  • Tell me what you learned first..........I think motor ,is'nt it!......ok.........So Fleming's left hand rule is for motor.

In this rule your left hand' thumb, index finger and middle finger show force,direction of Magnetic field and direction of current respectively.

  • Now tell me what you learned after the motor ......I think Generator.......ok.........So Fleming's right hand rule is for Generator.

In this rule your right hand' thumb, index finger and middle finger show direction of motion of coil ,direction of Magnetic field and direction of current respectively.

Fleming's left hand rule :

The forefinger, the middle finger and the thumb of the left hand are stretched in mutually perpendicular directions. If the forefinger points in the direction of the magnetic field, the middle finger in the direction of current, then the thumb points in the direction of the force on the conductor.
