Flipkart is an example of e-commerce website
- E- Commerce Website:- A website that enables users to buy and sell tangible items, services, and digital products online rather than at a real location. A company can process orders, receive payments, control shipping and logistics, and offer customer care through an e-commerce website.
- E-commerce is the general term for the sale of products or services over the internet. E-commerce, in its most basic form, is the electronic transmission of money and information between two or more parties. Since its inception in the electronic data interchange of the 1960s and the advent of online purchasing in the 1990s, this type of business has undergone significant evolution.
- Flipkart:- In October 2007, Mr. Sachin and Mr. Binny Bansal, graduates of the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi and former employees of Amazon, founded Flipkart. The company initially focused on providing national shipping for online book sales. Flipkart had progressively grown in popularity and was handling 100 orders every day by 2008. In 2010, Flipkart acquired WeRead, a Bangalore-based social book discovery platform, from Lulu.com.
- In 2011, Flipkart acquired both the Mime360.com digital distribution business and the Chakpak Bollywood portal's digital content inventory. After making this acquisition, in 2012, Flipkart launched Flyte, a DRM-free online music shop. Due to competition from free streaming websites, the website failed and was shut down in June 2013.
Hence, flipkart is an example of e-commerce website.
