Yes

Explanation:

Floods mean that dry areas of land are covered with a lot of water. Many parts of India get flooded during rainy seasons. This causes suffering of huge numbers of people.

It's causes are:

  • When it rains it rains heavily the water level in rivers keeping rising. When they are unable to hold the water, it flows over the banks and floods the surrounding.
  • Cities also get flooded by overflowing rivers or if there is very heavy rain and the drainage system cannot drink the water enough.

It's effects are:

  • Floods causes damage to life and property.
  • Huts and houses get washed away.
  • people who do not have proper home stay for a great hardship.
  • Farmers suffer huge loss as their crops are destroyed.
  • It also can lead to shortage of food like fresh vegetables.
  • Drinking water gets contaminated by the dirty flood water so water borne diseases like cholera can spread.

States in India which experience floods Assam, West Bengal and Bihar experience regular floods when the Ganga, its tributaries and the Brahmaputra overflow.
