Floor of a room is 10m long and 4m wide. It has been covered with the tiles of size 50 cm
by 10 cm. How many tiles are needed to cover the floor? Find the cost of the tiles at the
rate of ` 45 per tile.

Answer:

Length of the floor = 10 m

Breadth of the floor = 4 m

Area of the room = l × b

= 1000 × 400

= 400000 m²

Length of the tile = 50 cm

Breadth of the tile = 10 cm

Area of the tile = l × b

= 50 × 10

= 500 cm².

Tiles to cove the floor = 400000/500

= 800 tiles.
