- Panchayati raj system is the local self government in India created in 1922 by the 73rd constitutional amendment .
- Panchayati raj system consists of three levels namely, Gram panchayat, Block level and District level
- Gram Panchayat is the village level administration. The Head of the Grama Panchayat is called as Sarpanch. The Sarpanch is elected once in every five year by the members of the Grama sabha.
- Block level is also called as Mandal Parishad, Block samiti or Panchayati Samiti. Block level is the connection line between the village level and District level.
