Here is a brief information about Electoral politics –  

Common factors why we need to conduct elections may include –  

1. People choose their leader for making law.

2. People choose leaders for taking all major decisions.

3. People choose leaders and parties to help offer guidance to govern.

A democratic election is one in which all eligible voters can vote (every citizen are provided with same rights to cast vote. Voting season offers citizens with choice to select their preferred leader. The process of voting should be conducted on regular basis (generally within 5 years). Candidate who is preferred should always be elected by the people.

Step by step system of electoral vote may include below mentioned steps.

1. Constituencies – These are main for conducting Parliamentary elections and is divided in to 543 constituencies nation wide. The division is done zone wise.

2. Reserved constituencies – these are set of 84 seats that are considered as reserved for SC candidates whereas 47 are reserved for ST category. For these seats candidate contesting should belong to the SC or ST category. Extra reservation is also offered for Panchayat elections for OBC candidates.

3. Voters list – This is the list of all eligible candidates who are registered as citizens and have the rights to cast vote. The list is updated for candidates who might have left or died and new members names included.

4. ID card – This is the voter card identification in which the name and other details of the voter is mentioned. This is important to be produced during voting season.

General process followed may include:-

Nomination- Where the contesting candidate has to get registered for conducting campaigns. They are provided with voting tickets for conducting campaigns. Can be independent or party registered.

Campaigns – Conducted by nominees or parties. The nominees declare their operand or  party future programmes to the voters. Generally held as rallies in different areas and shows.

Mode of conduct may include organizing campaigns in common public place. The agenda has to be announced in advance with permission to conduct campaign.

EVMs are used on the day of voting for counting and conducting votes and the candidate who receives more number of likes is declared as the winner of the elections.
