Answer:

(i) In the presence of oxygen When breakdown of glucose is carried out in the presence of oxygen in a cell, it is called as aerobic respiration. Glucose is converted into a 3 carbon molecule called pyruvate which further breaks down in the presence of oxygen to form carbon dioxide and water.

in the presence of oxygen , when glucose is completely broken down into carbon dioxide water and energy is released in the form of ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) ..... and equation for this to represent it is : GLUCOSE ---> CARBON DIOXIDE + WATER + ENERGY

(ii) In the absence of oxygen When breakdown of glucose is carried out in the absence of oxygen in a cell, it is called as anaerobic respiration. This process is called as fermentation in microbes. Ethyl alcohol or lactic acid is produced by the breakdown of pyruvate.

in the absence of oxygen, glucose is broken down into lactic acid nd produce two molecules of ATP in animals and in plants glucose is broken down into ethanol nd CO2.....nd produce 2 molecules of ATP...............................the whole process is done in cytoplasm of the cells.....in tge absence of oxygen•••
