Absorption of fatty acid and glycerol in the small intestine.

Explanation:

  • The fatty acids and glycerol are insoluble and cannot be absorbed into the blood.
  • The bile that is released in the small intestine helps in breaking down of fats into smalls micelles. This is called emulsification of fat.
  • These micelles move into the intestinal mucosa. There, they are reformed into very small protein-coated fat globules called chylomicron. They then are transported into lacteals(lymph vessels) in the villi of the small intestine.
  • These lymph vessels ultimately release them to the blood stream through which they can travel to the heart.
