Helen Keller was born on 27 June 1880 in Tuscumbia.|Father name was Arthur H. Keller and mother name was Kate Adams.|Was the first child of the family and so there was a lot of discussion on her name as the first child of the family should not be named lightly. IName suggested by father was Mildred Campbell but mother solved the discussion by giving name of her choice as after the name of Helen's grand mother.IBut father in excitement of carrying Helen to the church forgot the name and named her Helen Adams.IShe loved nature and can identify flowers by their smell.lThe beginning of her life was simple as of a normal child.IIn her early age she showed the sign of a eager and self asserting child.lOne day she was sitting on her mother's lap when her attention drew towards flickering shadows of leaves and she slipped from her mother's lap and almost ran towards it.lDuring first nineteenth months of her life she saw the glimpses of broad green Fields, luminous sky, trees and flowers.IIn the dreary month of february came the illness due to which she lost her hearing and seeing power.
