Answers
Given : Prabhjot developed a rectangular flower garden. 16 flower pots were placed at a distance of 1m from each other along both side of garden as shown in Figure
Prabhjot drew 11 parallel vertical lines between two sides for better placement of pots. He brought 6 new decorative plants. He placed 5 pots (A,B,C,D and E) at position indicated in figure.
To Find : a)What is the distance between pot A and pot B
b) Which geometrical figure is formed by pots A,B,C and D?
c) Prabhjot wants to place pot F exactly in between Pots A(2,4) and C (8,10). Where should he place it ?
d) What is distance between pots B and E?
Solution:
A = ( 2 , 4)
B = ( 2 , 10)
C = ( 8 , 10)
D = ( 8 , 4)
E = ( 5 , 15)
distance between pot A and pot B
A = ( 2 , 4) , B = ( 2 , 10)
= √(2 - 2)² + ( 10 - 4)²
= 6 m
distance between pot A and pot B = 6 m
geometrical figure is formed by pots A,B,C and D
AB = BC = CD = AD = 6 m
& lines are perpendicular
SQUARE is formed
Pot F exactly in between Pots A(2,4) and C (8,10).
= (2 + 8)/2 , ( 4 + 10)/2
= 5 , 7
distance between pots B and E
B = ( 2 , 10) , E = ( 5 , 15)
√(5 - 2)² + ( 15 - 10)²
√9 + 25
= √34 m
