Vallisneria is a fresh water aquatic plant which can also be known as tape grass or eelgrass. The plant is named after Antonio Vallisneri, an Italian naturalist, physician and also a medical scientist.

Vallisneria is a form of submerged aquatic plant which has runners and round tipped leaves.  

Vallisneria is a flowering plant. Its flowers can be frequently found floating on the water surface either detached or attached with the plant stalk. Female flowers can be found floating on the water surface as they tends to grow on a long stalk. Male flowers are submerged flowers as they tends to grow on short stalks.
