FLUSH THE TOILET WITHOUT TOUCHING IT
The Public Toilets are full of bacteria and viruses.
After having gone through the recent Covid-19
pandemic, a need surfaced to strictly avoid direct
contacts, and minimize the ways to touch anything
that has been handled by many people. Toilet
Flushing is one of them, where everyone must use
by hand.
We can avoid the situation by changing the toilet
tank design so that it can be flushed by using a
pedal
, so that pressing the pedal with shoe/slipper
will enable the tank to flush out the water
Unlike the conventional setup of the toilet and the
flush tank behind it, the new design places the
position of the tank on to the side of the toilet. A
foot pedal is placed on the floor linearly below the
handle of the tank, with both pedal and the handle
connected through a vertical lever. This enables
anyone to press the foot pedal and doing so would
pull the handle of the tank downwards and thus
making the flushing possible, without touching it.
Pedal flushing is useful in public toilets/school
toilets, where there is a scope of having little no
access to soap/hand wash, and where the
are not conscious enough or being careless to
wash hands, every time they come out of toilets,
using soap/hand wash. Moreover, in practice, it is
very convenient and economical to set this up as a
preventive measure, to minimize any direct/indirect
contact, thus reducing the chances of viral or
bacterial transmissions.
In any case, washing our hands thoroughly before
leaving the public toilet zone is the best preventive
measure to keep ourselves clean and away from
being infected.
