Explanation:

focal length of a concave mirror=30=-30cm

f= -30

object distance (u)= -40cm

image distance(v)= ?

1/f=1/v+1/u

1/-30=1/v+1/-40

-1/30=1/v-1/40

-1/30+1/40=1/v

(-4+3)/120=1/v

-1/120=1/v

v=-120

the image distance=-120cm

magnification=-v/u=-120/-30=40
